Resolution to End Human Trafficking and Slavery : WHEREAS, This Association exists to improve, promote, and protect health for residents of North Dakota through leadership in policy, partnerships, and best practices; and

Resolution to Raise North Dakota’s Tobacco Tax: Whereas, according to the 2014 US Surgeon General’s Report, increasing tobacco excise taxes have proven highly effective in preventing initiation among youth, reducing tobacco use by promoting cessation among current users, discouraging relapse among former users, and reducing consumption among those who continue to use tobacco; and

Whereas, tobacco use remains North Dakota’s leading preventable cause of death, killing more people than alcohol, AIDS, car crashes, illegal drugs, murders, and suicides combined; and Read More


Resolution in Support of Tobacco Treatment in Behavioral Health Settings: Whereas, smoking rates have declined steadily among the general population, rates have remained high among those with mental illness and substance use disorders; and

Whereas, these populations have been encouraged to use tobacco; and

Whereas, adults with mental illness are 70% more likely to smoke than adults with no mental illness and nearly 1 in 5 adults (or 45.7 million adults) have some form of mental illness; and Read More
